Travel to Trang Beaches

This is the same direction as Krabi, only about hundred km behind.

Trang invites to stay for a few days since this is probably the most attractive in south Thailand. The archipelago has almost 50 islands and starts right behind Koh Lanta.

This area is probably the best kept secret in Thailand beach and island tourism for sure the ideal vacation spot. 



One of the spots in the Andaman Sea is Koh Kradan and a little bit further north, already in Krabi province is Koh Lanta, see the map. Long time ago this piece of land was under the control of the Sultan of Java and at that time they had busy trade traffic, this changed when they English and Dutch moved in, they partitioned the colonial "cake" between them.

The good tours start from Kantang Jetty, you can see this at the map just above. There are some longtail boat in the morning at the north end of Pak Meng but they only deliver people to the resorts on the islands.

There are several hotels in the city 

which is about 20 km east of Pak Meng Beach, the longest in the province. One of them is the "Trang Hotel" a low priced not very new hotel in the city center and resorts can be found on many islands and on the coast. Probably the best for a quick orientation try the hotel for a day and visit the tourist office just around the corner, they also have a travel agent opposite the reception. 

From here also the train station is only a ten minutes walk, every day they come in from Bangkok and continue to Hat Yai. Most people take the bus, it's faster and more comfortable, they start at the "Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok".

Plenty of islands with exotic beaches in the warm tropical waters of the Andaman Sea make every vacation a great experience. This is for people who want to relax, eat seafood, lay in the sand and do nothing, if they like. But there are plenty of things to do in Trang, one of the most interesting sightseeing tour and day trip is exploring the Morakot Cave, a stunning limestone cave with all "bells and whistles".
